Quit FaceBook

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - – A group protesting Facebook's privacy policies said Monday more than 30,000 people had heeded its call to quit the social networking giant.

"For us it comes down to two things: fair choices and best intentions. In our view, Facebook doesn't do a good job in either department," the organizers, who did not identify themselves, said on their website for Monday's "Quit Facebook Day."

"Facebook gives you choices about how to manage your data, but they aren't fair choices."

The group said at 2300 GMT that 32,749 had dropped out of the Facebook universe.

Facebook.com is visited monthly by 540 million people, or slightly more than 35 percent of the Internet population, according to Google data.
Facebook is overhauling privacy controls in the face of a barrage of criticism that it is betraying the trust which has made it the world's biggest social network.

Facebook redesigned its privacy settings page to provide a single control for content and "significantly reduce" the amount of information that is always visible to everyone.

Facebook also said it is giving users more control over how outside applications or websites access information at the service.

Critics continue to call for Facebook to make all user information private by default and then let people designate what they want to share case-by-case in an "opt-in" model.

Meet Melisa AKA MELAI.

Is Melai for real? Or is she a big put-on?

Melai is the endearing monicker of Melisa (with a single ‘s’) Cantiveros who emerged the Big Winner after more than 131 days inside the PBB (Pinoy Big Brother) House with no phones (“cel” or landline) and no radio or TV, no contact at all with the outside world, together with initially more than a dozen housemates (winnowed down from more than a thousand aspirants from around the country).

The kinky-haired kababayan of Manny Pacquiao from GenSan will turn 22 on April 6 (Aries). She’s P1-M richer, the prize she won along with a house and lot in Cainta, Rizal, and a new boyfriend, housemate Jason Francisco (together they are called Melason), who wooed and won her inside the Big House. He calls her Isay (“As in kumikisay-kisay,” said Melai) and she calls him Sweetie Pie.

Some people find her “annoying” because of her rapid-fire way of talking and her unrestrained attitude and brutal frankness and honesty, oftentimes unmindful and uncaring about what she said or did even if she and the other housemates were constantly reminded that there were cameras around, watching them 24/7.

Yes, Melai’s loquaciousness is natural and, no, her “rapid-fire-ness” is not a put-on. She does speak that way, so fast as if she’s forever being chased by an invisible zombie that you have to catch up with her to digest every word in every phrase in every sentence that tumbles out of her mouth, punctuated with her favorite expressions, “over-over!” and “everything-everything!”

The events these past four months leading to the grand finals at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last Feb. 13 have been, that’s it, “over-over” and “everything-everything” for the Mindanao State University (MSU) B.S. Education senior whose ambition to be an English teacher might have to give way to a career in showbiz.

ABS-CBN, producer of PBB, let Melai visit her folks in GenSan after her big win, but only for a day.

Upon the invitation of ABS-CBN PR man Kane Choa, Funfare was able to enter the Big House (usually off-limits to outsiders) for exclusive one-on-ones with Melai and the second placer, Cebu’s Paul Jake Castillo (watch for a “body talk” with him soon).

Posted by janean Monday, January 11, 2010 0 comments »

Most of the people right now are using internet to access websites and networks for many different reasons. Like me, since college I always went to internet café so that I can access through the internet and searched articles for my assignments and projects. Now, I am using internet not just for searching but also for my own website. It’s almost a year now that I created my personal website but before I don’t have my own domain because I don’t know much about webhosting and how it works. Until, I looked for a web hosting article, article on how to have a domain and on how to host the domain I bought.

It takes time for me to have my personal website because I am not that familiar on web hosting and I am scared if after I’ve done all the steps it will not work but I made it correctly. Actually, I am just using a free web hosting but it’s not the issue the important was that all the internet surfers can access my website anytime.

Web hosting is very important in the World Wide Web in view of the fact that we cannot access a website if it is not hosted of a certain server.

Everyday, we are prone to stress because of our own actions and decisions that change our life. Personally, I experience a type of stress called psychological stress this type of stress worsened that caused me headaches, back pain and ulcers. I got stress every time I feel depressed, disappointed and of course being broken hearted. In addition to that I am also stress-out if I’m not comfortable with the environment like crowded places and the people around me are difficult to understand.

According to my instructor in medical transcription class, stress is one of the most common causes of related disorder if we can not handle it as soon as possible. Because our nervous system would possibly be affected that and will cause an abnormal reaction in our body. Therefore, we should avoid of getting too much stress for own sake since our health is our wealth.

If you have experienced stress, always find ways to handle it. For example, you have worked for long hours because of the task assigned to you. For sure, you feel the effects of stress after you have done your task like having headaches and irritable and to be able to fight that kind of feelings try to relax, to slow down and go to a place that makes you feel comfortable. Plus, reading an article about stress and how to learn to cope with it can be another way to avoid from too much stress or from being stressful.

My Windows XP!

Windows XP is one of the best windows software I can really say, because of its friendly features that make me work with my computer so easy or trouble-free. That is why I am so sad when I really have to reformat my hard disk and reinstall Windows Xp on my own; the problem was that my hard drive has no space available and I don’t know what programs or files to be deleted.

It was just last month that I have finally decided to reformat my hard disk, but I am afraid that I might get trouble during the installation since that was my first time do it and I am not so familiar about reinstalling windows software. For that reason, I searched through the internet about how to reinstall Windows XP and I am so lucky that I find the right article about it. It was a big help for me that time at the same time I learned a lot from it for the reason that it has additional tips and it also gives me confident that I be able to do things on my own by just looking top answers from the internet.

Now, I explore more of my Windows XP and there is much more to learn about it to improve the performance of my personal computer.
